OSCE Campaign for 16 days of activism against gender-based violence in 2019: End the Silence

Regarding the marking of annual campaign 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence in 2019: End the Silence, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) today launches a campaign in Serbia and across Southeast and Eastern Europe, entitled "Break the Silence." The campaign is based on the key findings of a 2018 survey on women's well-being and safety conducted by the OSCE on a sample of 15,000 women interviewed in seven countries members of OSCE: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia, Serbia, Moldova and Ukraine. In Serbia, over 2,000 women participated in the survey. Violence against women affects women of all ages and from all over Serbia, regardless of their social and financial status. According to the OSCE survey, more than a quarter of respondents stated that they personally knew a woman who had been exposed to violence within her own family and friendly environment. Five out of six women surveyed consider violence against women common, and more than one-third very common. For more information please visit https://bit.ly/2DkSFW2
