AI Doesn’t Steal Inspiration, but It Changes the Rules of the Game
05/11/2026 • Agency news
In mid-April, I was invited to participate on behalf of our agency, Chapter 4, in a panel discussion and speak with university students and high school students — future university students — at Metropolitan University as part of their Digital Marketing & Biz Day. The panel topic was “Brands of the Future: AI, Creativity, Virality, and the Power of Influencers,” and through this column I will try to convey what I heard from these young people — their questions, thoughts, dilemmas, concerns… while also sharing my own perspective on the role of AI.
This was one of those panels that doesn’t simply remind you of what you already know, but instead pushes you to rethink the way you think. What has stayed with me even several weeks later were not the trends themselves, but one simple yet fundamental question that kept resurfacing throughout almost every discussion: where is my place in a world where AI is already the standard, not a novelty?
Older generations — including my own, I might add — still often talk about artificial intelligence as something that is yet to come. For the young people I spoke with, and for those of us working in the industry who know this very well, AI is already here. They are no longer asking whether AI will change the industry — that story is already over. What interests them is how to remain relevant in a world where a tool can do almost everything.
