MOL completes construction work on the AV3 unit at the Danube Refinery
MOL has completed the reconstruction of the AV3 unit at the Danube Refinery, which was damaged in a fire last autumn. The project was completed according to schedule, allowing the gradual restart of production to begin once the construction equipment has been removed. Following the commissioning and testing of the AV3 unit, MOL’s refinery in Százhalombatta will once again be able to operate at full capacity, further strengthening the security of fuel supply in Hungary and across the region. The reconstruction budget amounted to HUF 18 billion.

The fire, which broke out in October 2025, caused significant damage to the AV3 crude oil distillation unit. Over the past year, MOL has carried out a comprehensive reconstruction programme. The damaged reinforced concrete structure was removed and rebuilt, while the affected equipment, control systems and electrical systems were restored. A total of 27 new high-capacity pumps were installed, eight kilometres of pipelines were replaced, and 100 kilometres of electrical cables were laid. Construction work was completed in line with the original schedule, and the next step will be to prepare the unit for a safe restart.
