Slovenian smart vineyard project won the SAP HCP Challenge

Smart vineyard, smart car and smart warehouse, those are the three best new ideas how to use SAP HANA Cloud Platform. They were chosen by the jury at the CEE finals of the HCP Startup Challenge that took place on November 22nd, 2016 in Bratislava, Slovakia.

The absolute winner is the eVineyard project from Slovenia. Their solution brings the technology directly to the vineyard – the growers can use any device even from their tractor to fill the paperwork. They have immediate overview of the conditions on the ground and so questions like when to irrigate or when to treat the grapevine are no more just guesswork.

“We applied because we saw big opportunity to enter the market with the help of SAP,” says Matic Šerc, the CTO of eVineyard . “The whole process went quite smoothly for us, we applied and been selected. Being one of the finalists was a very positive surprise. We are very happy and are looking forward to collaborate with SAP and build something together on the SAP HANA Cloud Platform. “

The Slovenian company was one of the three winners. They were joined on the podium by two Polish startups – FindWiz with a real-time inventory solution and SmartCar with solution for better management and optimization for car fleets or even buildings.

All three winning projects just underscore the importance of Internet of Things and confirm that SAP’s plan to invest 2 billion dollars in IoT was correct. All three projects can as well utilize the possibilities of a cloud platform.
